Get to know me as an artist and my creation of abstract art!

Today I want to share a little more about myself, my artistry and how I work when I paint my paintings.

I love painting abstractly and never paint directly from a photograph or a landscape.

Do you have a favorite when it comes to art? Do you want real images on your walls or do you also prefer the abstract?

The lonely pianist - abstract art

When I paint my art, I never sit with a photograph or landscape in front of me. I prefer to paint completely freely and take inspiration from small memories that I carry with me from life.

Once when I was in Nice and giving a painting course, I was walking along the promenade and saw a pianist sitting there by the water.

That image was etched in my memory and I painted the picture from my imagination, as I experienced the pianist and how this pianist touched his piano.

Golden rhythms – a journey in colour

Something that I work a lot with in my paintings (and also teach in my courses ) is painting different layers.

In the artwork Golden Rhythms – a Journey in Color, I painted an incredible number of layers before I felt completely satisfied. All of these layers together create a depth that cannot be achieved with just one or two layers of paint.

I painted the last layer of the painting with oil paints and as the finishing touch I added gold leaf.

Gold leaf is something I started working with during my time in Kuwait where I lived and worked as an artist around the year -96. There I often went to art exhibitions and various art contexts to get to know other artists and was inspired by the Arab artists who often used gold leaf in their artwork.
